I: The Solitary Island

You'll find yourself awaking as Celes on a deserted island with Cid. She's been sleeping for one whole year and Cid has watched over her, but now he's sick. You may want to first run outside and save. At the bottom of the screen you'll find fish. If you want Cid to live, catch only the fast swimming fish. Sometimes there are only rotten fish. You can check you Rare Items menu to see what kind of fish it is. If you feed him only rotten fish, he'll die. Also if you wait too long the fish could rot. If there's no fish at all, talk to Cid to refresh the screen (though this will be tantamount to starving him). Aside from a clear conscience, you can bring your friends back to meet Cid if he's alive. If he dies Celes throws herself off of a cliff, but lives and finds a letter from Cid about the raft. The game continues whether he lives or not. If you're looking to gain levels, you should wait until you leave the Solitary Island.

II: Albrook

If you'd like to gain levels for a bit, this is your opportunity. Experience ranges from 5-1000+ per battle. Since Celes is alone I recommend equipping a Black Belt and a Ribbon. When you're done exploring the continent, gaining levels or whatever, enter the town near where you landed, Albrook. Basically the only thing to do here is talk to people about the world and stock up one supplies. The townspeople hold lots of information about events to come. When you're finished exploring Albrook, head north to Tzen.

III: Tzen

Items: Heal Rod, Pearl Rod, Tincture, Hyper Wrist, Drainer, Magicite

Time for an equipment change. If you haven't already, equip the Atma Weapon if you'd like. Also for Relics, if you don't have a Ribbon, equip an Amulet and a Jewel Ring. Save outside the town and go inside. If you don't have these, you can buy them from the Relic shop here. Inside the collapsing house. You have six minutes so getting the items are up to you. But something like the Drainer sword you won't find anywhere else. After you've regained Sabin as an ally, equip him properly and stock up on anything else you need. When you're ready, head east then north across a bridge that leads to Serpent Trench which is now above sea level. On the east end, you'll find Mobliz, your next event.

IV: Mobliz

Items: Fenrir Magicite

Explore the town if you'd like. In the back of the Relic shop is a bed you can sleep in for free. When you're ready follow the little boy. Talk to Terra and she'll tell you she can't fight anymore. When that's over head outside and you'll have a boss battle with Phunbaba. Terra tries taking him on herself and loses. You fight as her so you might as well attack yourself because everything else will just do zero damage. Celes and Sabin face off with the demon and fare better. Do about 10,000 in damage and he'll run away. Terra wimps out and before you leave the house you receive the "Fenrir" Magicite. Terra won't join your party right now so leave and head to the north-west side of Serpent Trench to the town of Nikeah. Don't forget to equip Fenrir before leaving.

V: Nikeah

You have better defensive armor here although it's expensive. Make sure to get a Diamond Vest for Sabin. Go to the Pub and talk to all the thieves, then talk to there leader who's standing left of the Armor Shop. Follow him talking to him and board the boat to South Figaro. You can still take the ferry back to Nikeah if you need something.

VI: South Figaro

Here you can buy Diamond Armor for anyone who needs it (if you can afford it). It's better than the Diamond Vest but Sabin can't wear it. When you're done exploring town, find 'Gerad' on the second floor of the Cafe. Talk to him then follow him out. Leave South Figaro and head west to the Cave of Figaro. You're more than welcome to take a Chocobo (but it's not that far west).

VII: Cave of Figaro

Talk to Ziegfred then head in after him. You'll find that everything has already been taken from the chests, so just keep going. When you get to the turtle, wait for the thieves then jump across yourself. Keep following the path until you wind up in Figaro Castle's first basement.

VIII: Figaro Castle

Items: Gravity Rod, Crystal Helm, X-Potion, Ether, Regal Crown, Soul Sabre, Phoenix Down

Cross over from basement one to basement two. You'll find treasure that hasn't been taken. Once you reach the Engine Room, Gerad reveals that he really is Edgar and a boss fight ensues with the Tentacles. This is a fairly easy battle, just make sure you keep your characters healed. Celes' Runic skill helps out a lot. After the battle, Edgar joins you. Be sure to equip him because you can still get into battles here. Check the statue in the middle o the pillaged room for the Soul Sabre. When you come up from the basement the engineer will inform you that the problem has been fixed and Figaro rises again to the surface. Use Edgar's discount to stock up on needed items and you can also find a chest containing a Phoenix Down. When you're done, ask the engineer to take you to Kohlingen.

IX: Kohlingen

Kohlingen is located north-west of Figaro Castle once you land. As with other towns, there isn't much to do here but spend money. Stock up on new weapons, and you can also pay a visit to Locke's girlfriend, who's technically dead but for his sake we'll tell you she's in suspended animation. At the entrance, there's someone else (as in Nikeah) that reminisces about the past. You will find Setzer in the Pub/Inn. He'll direct you to Daryl's Tomb, south-west of Kohlingen.

X: Daryl's Tomb

Items: Genji Helmet, Crystal Mail, Czarina Gown, Experience Egg

At the start, go down the steps and you'll be in Basement 2 which has five other exits. Go into the upper-right door and flip the switch on the tombstone (inspect it). Go into the new room that opesn and flip another switch. Now take the lower right door for the Genji Helmet. Go into the center room and inspect all four tombstones, then go into the upper left room and write an inscription. It is, THEW ORLD ISSQ UARE (PLUG!)

Take the lower left room for the Crystal Mail then down the steps for the Czarina Gown. Towards the bottom right of this screen you'll find the hidden room containing the Experience Egg. Come back out and head through the north door and flip the switch. Now go back to the main room and go back through the center door. Flip the switch next to you and jump on the turtle then cross into the next area. Save and tent at the save point then open the chest on the right for the Man Eater.
